The Controller will oversee the full accounting function across corporate, development, project, and property entities. This is a senior hands-on role managing a team of three while remaining directly involved in financial statements, tax compliance, project accounting, investor reporting, cash flow forecasting, and day-to-day accounting operations. The role requires strong technical capability, attention to detail, and comfort in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment.
What you will be doing
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across multiple corporate, project, and property-level entities
- Manage accounting for active development projects including cost tracking, budgets, commitments, capital expenditures, and recoveries
- Prepare and maintain cash flow projections, monitor liquidity, and support financing activities including construction loan draws and lender compliance
- Oversee HST filings, coordinate tax planning and year-end tax reporting with external advisors, and manage tax audits
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes with appropriate controls and workflows
- Lead and mentor a team of three accounting staff while remaining actively involved in execution
- Improve reporting processes, accounting workflows, controls, and system usage to support scalability
What the role requires
- Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Experience preparing financial statements and managing full-cycle accounting
- Experience with HST filings, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow reporting
- Experience managing a small accounting team
- Strong Excel and financial reporting skills
